Lawrence Muiruri Ngugi

Lawrence Muiruri Ngugi is the serving Registrar/Chief Executive, Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration. He is an arbitrator and accredited mediator, previously served as Chief State Counsel (Head of Commercial Litigation & Arbitration), Member of Kenya’s representatives to the UNCITRAL Working Group II Arbitration & Conciliation and Working Group III Online Dispute Resolution.

He has handled high profile, complex litigation, arbitration and international investor-state disputes under the ICC, UNCITRAL and ICSID rules. He is a holder of a BA (Hons) Econ, LLB degrees and MA (International Studies), and a Research fellow of the East China University of Politics and Law.


Manager, Corporate Support Services

Victor Amos Ochieng Ogunyo

Victor Amos Ochieng Ogunyo is the Centre’s Manager-Corporate Support Services. He oversees the Human Resource Management & Administration, Legal Affairs, Finance & Accounts, Procurement and Information Communication & Technology units.

Victor has ten (10) years of managerial experience in different capacities in the public sector. He is adept in Financial Management, Policy Formulation, Strategy Development, Performance Management and Financial Compliance. He is a qualified accountant with demonstrable experience in internal audit, team leadership and organizational development.


Manager, Business Development

Millicent Musanga Shitakha

Millicent Musanga Shitakha is the Centre’s Manager-Business Development. She oversees the Corporate Strategy, Capacity building, Communication & Marketing and Client Relations units.

Millicent is an experienced strategist with seventeen (17) years of experience having worked for various government agencies. She is skilled in Marketing & Communication, Policy Development and Strategic Planning, Partnership Management, Research, Capacity Building, Quality Management and Performance Management. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and an MBA (Finance) both from the University of Nairobi. In addition, she has had professional development in International Commercial Arbitration, Product Development and Restructuring, Website Management, Leadership and Corporate Governance, ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System and Information Management System implementation amongst others.


Internal Auditor

{The incumbent } is the Centre’s Senior Internal Auditor. He oversees the Internal Audit, Risk Management and Governance functions.


Senior Case Counsel

Alex Mwaniki

Alex Mwaniki is the Centre’s Senior Case Counsel in the Case Management Department. He oversees the Case Administration Unit, the Case Quality Assurance and Advisory Unit and the Case Records Management Unit. He also serves as the Joint Secretary of the National Steering Committee for the formulation of the National ADR Policy.

Alex has experience in mediation and arbitration, legal compliance audit, legal research and writing among others. He is a holder of LLB (Hons) Kenyatta University and Diploma – Kenya School of Law and is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. He is also a member of Young ICCA and an adjunct researcher of the Legal Research and Service Centre of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. He may be contacted through alex.mwaniki@ncia.or.ke
